It is important to backup the Mac OS with Time Machine before upgrade to Catalina beta OS.

In this tutorial, I will get you through how to recover all notes from Time Machine back to your Mac with Catalina Beta OS without having to revert back.

Note

First, open the Time Machine backup directory in your backup storage device and locate the directory USER in the latest Backup Directory. In my case, there are many directories in the backup storage devices and I chose the latest one which is “2019–07–23–060048”.

Backup Storage Device

Then, go further into the directory backup, Backup directory -> Name of PC — > User account -> Library -> Group Container -> google.com.apple.notes

All notes saved in the folder named “google.com.apple.notes”.

Where all notes in Mac OS saved

After that, copy 3 files NoteStore.sqlite, NoteStore.sqlite-shm, NoteStore.sqlite-wal in the folder “google.com.apple.notes” and paste it in your Local Machine but make sure you make a copy of your files in the Local Machine before overwriting those files.

In the local machine, double click on Finder and click on “Library” then click on “Group Container” directory and then “group.com.apple.notes” directory, finally that is the directory where all notes saved. You can simply paste the file from the backup storage device into it and overwrite all the three files. Restart the note program and you will see all the note you have previously.

Or open the terminal and enter this command will open the folder where noted saved.

Open the Terminal or Command + Space and Enter Terminal

Type in below and enter

cd ~/Library/Group\ Containers/group.com.apple.notes/

Then type in

open .

Then it will open you the finder within the correct directory.

The path in your local machine and the time machine are the same because the way Time Machine back up the machine is copy everything in your local Machine into Storage Device, so you can revert back anytime without any problem.
